What to expect from your first session?

During your first visit in physiotherapy for a jaw problem, the therapist will ask you several questions to understand your limitations, your symptoms, your general condition and your lifestyle habits.

Then, an objective assessment of your posture, neck, face and jaw will be carried out. The therapist will take jaw mobility measurements, assess the quality of opening, strength and flexibility from the inside and outside of your mouth.

The therapist will then explain the results of the assessment to you and present a treatment plan including an exercise program, diet and sleep recommendations and other therapeutic modalities. Follow-ups will be suggested if necessary.

To consider before the first visit:

  • If you wear glasses, bring them.
  • If you have a night guard, bring it.
  • Keep in mind the dental and orthodontic procedures you have received.
